1The challenge
Small webshops want to sell Solo Solis’ sunglasses without holding stock. Dropshipping makes that possible, but a standard B2B checkout doesn’t support it:
- Billing and shipping address were both set to the end customer.
- Parcels could show wholesaler details to the reseller’s customer.
- The dropship fee was charged without VAT.
- Dropship invoices looked different from regular invoices.
What is dropshipping?
In dropshipping, a reseller sells a product without holding stock. When their customer orders, the reseller places the order with the wholesaler, who ships it directly to the end customer, usually without any trace of the wholesaler in the parcel. For a wholesaler, it opens a sales channel to webshops that would never buy in bulk.
2Our approach
We built dropshipping into Solo Solis’ B2B checkout and back office, so a dropship order is as easy to place and process as a regular one.
The right addresses
The reseller’s billing details on the invoice, the end customer’s address on the shipment.
Blind shipping
A blind shipping option in the checkout, so the parcel carries no wholesaler pricing or branding.
Correct fee and VAT
A dropship fee with the correct VAT, and suitable shipping methods per destination.
Matching invoices
Dropship invoices in the same design as regular invoices, including product photos and prices.
3The result
Solo Solis can now serve webshops that hold no stock, without extra work in the warehouse. Resellers place dropship orders themselves, the end customer receives a neutral parcel and the paperwork is correct on both sides.

?Frequently asked questions about dropshipping in Magento
Does Magento support dropshipping out of the box?
Not for wholesalers who ship on behalf of their resellers. Separate billing and delivery logic, blind shipping and dropship fees need custom work.
What is blind shipping?
The parcel contains no information about the wholesaler, such as prices or branding, so the end customer only sees the reseller.
How is VAT handled on dropship fees?
The fee is part of the order and gets the correct VAT, just like the products.
Can resellers still order stock for themselves?
Yes. The same B2B account is used for regular orders and dropship orders.
